This morning Disney CEO and Chairman Bob Iger announced the opening dates for the Star Wars-themed lands at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

During the annual Meeting of Shareholders in St Louis, Missouri, Iger stated that the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge lands will open earlier than expected in Disneyland on May 31, 2019, and at Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World Aug. 29.

Estimated to cost $1 billion each, the new Star Wars areas will be the largest and most expensive single-themed lands Disney has ever built. Both parks will open in two phases, with the first phase debuting the Millennium Falcon ride, and the second phase (which will happen sometime later in the year), featuring the attraction centered on the First Order and the Resistance.

The lands will also feature a fully immersive Star Wars-themed hotel that is "seamlessly connected" to the area.

Also in recent Orlando theme park news, yesterday SeaWorld announced that their new immersive Sesame Street land will open March 27.
