We welcome back local heavyweights Alterity Chamber Orchestra after an extended absence from the stage for an evening of new classical music dubbed “Reveries.” Alterity is lending their not inconsiderable skills to new works from Timo Andres, Tina Tallon, Jordan Nobles, Andrew Norman, Juan Andres Vergara Avilez and Chang Seok Choi – in other words, light years away from the usual dead-white-guy fare of classical bills. Notably, Mexican guitarist/composer Avilez and Korean composer Choi are both winners of the “Call for Scores” contest, and that’s a damn nice feel-good story in itself. Here’s to a another busy concert season for these deft boundary-pushers.
