After Gov. Ron DeSantis pulled the plug on another 169 Rick Scott-era appointees earlier this week, the Republican governor now says the same appointees are welcome to reapply.

Florida Politics reports DeSantis says the driving cause behind the retractions was because he didn't know them.

"Some of them I didn't know, some of them I do know, some of them I reckon I will reappoint," DeSantis says. "But I think it's important for us to take a fresh look at all this and make sure we have folks that will be working hard to put stuff in the right direction."

Prior to DeSantis retracting their appointments over the weekend, which was first reported by Florida Politics, the 169 appointees had been awaiting their Senate confirmation.

In January, DeSantis originally withdrew 46 of Republican former Gov. Rick Scott's appointments, bringing the total to 215. Scott, who now serves in the U.S. Senate, made the appointments at the 11th hour of his term-limited gubernatorial tenure.
