Actor, comedian and filmmaker Tyler Perry stopped by the Pulse memorial this weekend before his final tour performance for his iconic character Madea on Sunday at the Amway Center.

Perry paid tribute to the 49 people killed by a gunman in the 2016 mass shooting at the Orlando gay nightclub.

"I could not come to Orlando without stopping by the Pulse nightclub memorial site," Perry says on Instagram. "So many beautiful lives cut short by senseless evil. My heart and prayers are with the living as my soul weeps for the victims. May they Rest In Peace. I’m calling on all decent people to light up the darkness and stand against hatred and evil!"

Perry was in town Sunday for "Madea's Farewell Play Tour," where he returns to playing Mabel Earlene "Madea" Simmons, the 68-year-old Atlanta grandmother who rose to fame first with the 1999 stage play I Can Do Bad All by Myself followed by the play and film Diary of a Mad Black Woman. The tour celebrating the end of the Madea franchise era includes stars from the original cast, including Tamela Mann, David Mann and Cassi Davis.
