Florida-based Southeastern Grocers, the parent company of Winn-Dixie, announced on Thursday plans to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and close 94 stores, including locations in Orlando.

The Orlando area will lose three Winn-Dixie locations: 2722 Pine Hills Road, 4686 E. Michigan St. and 1347 E. Vine St. in Kissimmee. All stores will close on or before April 30.

"Southeastern Grocers has conducted a thorough review of options for reducing our current debt. Taking this step was critical to our future and the long-term health of our business," said the company in a statement.

Southeastern Grocers, which also owns Harveys Supermarket, Fresco y Más and BI-LO, says the planned restructuring is part of a massive "court-supervised, prepackaged" debt restructuring agreement, and will help reduce their debt by more than $500 million.

The closures will leave the company with 582 remaining stores and 23 left in the Orlando area.
