Lake County employees are now allowed to carry firearms at work, and knives and scissors

Another domino just fell in terms of small-town Florida’s quest to put guns in pretty much every daily situation.

For those employed by Lake County, that means at work. Earlier today, Lake County Commissioner Josh Blake succeeded in his push to allow county employees to carry firearms while on the clock.

“I personally believe the natural right to defend your life does not disappear in the morning when you go to work,” Blake reportedly told fellow commissioners.

Apparently – and what seems all too convenient – these changes were already being cooked up before the Valentine’s Day massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, which left 17 dead and more than a dozen others injured.

Other things Lake County employees will now be allowed to bring to work: mace, knives and scissors. (Oh, boy.)

The move follows a similar one carried out by Okaloosa County commissioners last week.
