With the Florida House having approved a bill that would require all public schools to post the state motto, “In God We Trust,” in a “conspicuous place” on Wednesday, we can now stop worrying about pressing issues – like gun control.

Rep. Kim Daniels, D-Jacksonville – the bill’s sponsor, who runs her own ministry – said the bill is intended to bring “light” to our public school system following the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland last week. The incident resulted in 17 casualties and more than a dozen others injured.

“He is not a Republican or a Democrat. He is not black or white,” Daniels said via The Florida Channel, apparently referring to “Jesus Christ” or "God." “He is the light, and our schools need light in them like never before.”

Daniels went on to admit that Florida has “gun issues” that must be addressed.

“But the real thing that needs to be addressed are issues of the heart,” she said.

“We cannot put God in a closet when the issues we face are bigger than us.”

The bill overwhelmingly passed by a count of 97-10 and was reportedly met with a standing ovation. A companion bill has yet to be taken up by the Florida Senate.
