Floridian festival freaks breathed a huge sigh of relief last year when it was announced that Dirtybird Campout, the acclaimed Californian dance music weekender, was planning an East Coast version in our own backyard. While Okeechobee – entering its third year this March – was a much-needed injection of a higher-tiered festival into the Florida mix, the pickings have been generally slim when it comes to spring festival season on the peninsula. And unlike Okeechobee, Dirtybird has a laser focus on dance music, but with an impressive depth and range on offer. The disco house of Maximono is set up alongside neo-industrial beats from Louisahhh, the old-school house of Green Velvet and jazzy drum-and-bass from Roni Size. Throw in camping activities like kickball, tug-of-war and barbecue picnics and it’s a setup for a perfect spring kick-off.

Noon Friday-Sunday, Feb. 2-4 | Forever Florida, 4755 N. Kenansville Road, St. Cloud | | $220-$350
