Perhaps Publix is assuming that shopping is even more of a pleasure if you don't have to put on pants and leave the house.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Publix plans to build a location in Longwood that is strictly focused on same-day delivery and pick-ups.

Publix will be redeveloping the New Assembly of God church at 675 Longwood Hills Road into the new much smaller concept store. The store will also emphasize their GreenWise organic brand.

As of now there's no specific date on when the new store will open.

This isn't the grocery chain's first stab at home delivery. Publix joined forces with Instacart last year to bring a third party delivery system to the Orlando area. The Instacart service, which includes booze ordering, starts at $5.99 per delivery, but there is also a subscription service for $149 a year.
