Last Sunday, as we were leaving Grandma Party, we noticed a heavenly aroma emanating from across the street. Following our noses, we discovered a blazing grill in front of Kadence, where Mark Berdin's uncle Jose was churning out four kinds of hot skewers. The marinated chicken skewer with pickled daikon was the best thing we ate all day.

Now, Lo (and Jen and Mark) and behold, we hear they'll be setting up the grill every weekend from now until their annual Kamayan feast. What's that mean for you?

That means home-cooked Filipino comfort food every Thursday through Saturday until the end of the year in the back parking lot at Kadence. They'll start serving at 4:30 p.m. and go until the food sells out.

They say, "We'll also have plenty of beer … walk-ins only, super laid-back. Kain na!" Check the Facebook event page for their Paskuhan pop-up here.

And save the date for their Jan. 7 Kamayan, too – a kamayan is a traditional Filipino communal feast – food is served family-style on banana leaves and eaten with bare hands. (We bet they'll give you cutlery if you ask nicely.) Advance tickets go on sale later this week; check the Kadence Facebook page for updates.
