One of the most popular snacks at Disney World might return after more than a decade

The annual IAAPA Attractions Expo made a big splash in Orlando last week with numerous high-profile announcements, including new details of attractions on I-Drive and at SeaWorld Orlando, but one of the biggest rumors of the week was the possible return of BeaverTails to Walt Disney World.

The fried dough topped with sweets is a Canadian delicacy. At one time it was one of the must-have snacks at Epcot, where a small kiosk in the Canadian pavilion consistently drew long lines. But the booth closed abruptly in 2004 and with it, the only place in Central Florida to purchase the famed Canadian pastry. Countless petitions, protests, and letters did no good bringing the treat back to Walt Disney World.

That is, except for the one week of the year, when attractions expo is in town. Among the “nine miles of aisles” that is the IAE, the BeaverTails booth is nearly always the longest. This popularity among theme-park professionals inevitably spurs hopes of BeaverTails returning Disney World. This year was no exception, except this year’s rumors were a bit different, and these look a bit more credible than the wishful thinking of years past.

WildGravity Travels, an Ohio-based theme park news site, is now reporting that BeaverTails may be headed to Disney Springs. The post also mentions that as well as the famous BeaverTails the new Disney Springs location may also sell hotdogs wrapped in the pastries (!), poutine, and specialty drinks.

The poutine info is especially interesting since Disney Springs already has a highly successful poutine kiosk, the Daily Poutine, which debuted last year. It opened at the same time as three others; all four are owned and operated by Disney directly. The BeaverTails kiosk could replace the Daily Poutine, be paired up with it, or we may end up with two separate places to purchase poutine at Disney Springs. While having two places to buy gravy-covered fries might sound like overkill, the lines at both the previously opened BeaverTails location and currently at the Daily Poutine prove that both are extremely popular.

There’s no word on when the rumored BeaverTails location is expected to open.
