Mayor Buddy Dyer debuts transgender pride version of Orlando city flag

In honor of Transgender Awareness Week, Mayor Buddy Dyer showed off a new transgender pride version of the official Orlando city flag.

Dyer shared a photo of the flag this morning on the mayor's official Twitter account, saying "It’s #TransWeek and I am proud to support our Transgender community because everyone deserves to be treated equally."

The new version of the city flag is an homage to the official transgender flag which also features pink and blue stripes.

Transgender Awareness Week runs from Nov. 13-17. and serves as a nationwide act to "raise the visibility of transgender and gender non-conforming people, and address the issues the community faces," says GLAAD.

Transgender Day of Remembrance is also coming up on Nov. 20, which honors those whose lives who were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence.
