Amid the increasing gun violence across the nation, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd is advertising for more gun use and training.

A day after a gunman shot up a church in Texas, resulting in 26 deaths, Judd sent out a tweet about its active-shooter scenario training.

In another tweet posted shortly after, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said, "We encourage those who can legally arm themselves to do so," and then promoted their concealed weapons permit class for those interested in getting one.

One response to the department's tweets from @SteelBerg_City stated "This is awesome. Wish my PD did this."

Ananda Kelley expressed condemnation of the office's messages with the following tweet: "Are you saying church congregations should be armed/guarded? That is awful. What kind of world do you want your grandchildren to live in?"

Another Twitter user, @Humphrey1950, referenced another recent shooting and criticized Polk County's sheriff by tweeting, "So you can have Denver Walmart all over again. Great lazy police work by a sheriff who is too busy being in front of the camera."
