A local food truck is looking to expand its business beyond its usual weekend farmer's market fare.

Lisa Fareed, owner of The Crepe Company, announced yesterday she will grow her food truck and catering business into a franchise, according to a press release. She will open more locations through Florida and the Southeast during 2018.

Since 2009 Fareed has been serving sweet and savory crepes to the Central Florida community. She now plans to go nationwide with the french dish by 2019.

The decision to expand comes from years of Fareed's customers asking how they too could own their own mobile creperies.

“I got into the crepe business because, like many people, I wanted to control my financial destiny and own my own business," Fareed said. "What better (way) than food I thought – everybody eats. Crepes are delicious and they are unique and different. Now anyone can own their own crepe business when The Crepe Company franchise system is in place.”

For those interested in operating their own The Crepe Company business, a franchise show will be held on Friday Oct. 20 and Saturday Oct. 21.

The event will be held at the Orlando Hyatt Regency at 9801 International Drive from 11 a.m. - 4p.m. For more information and to RSVP 407-536-6109.

Currently The Crepe Company cart serves its dishes on Saturdays at the Winter Haven farmer's market and on Sundays at Lake Eola's.
