We recently told you about Wonton Asian Kitchen opening in the Winter Park Financial Center near the intersection of Fairbanks and Orlando avenues, and now we can tell you a bit more.

One of the partners in the venture told me that he and his cohorts have been involved in the Asian food biz for a while and have been looking to work together on a venture like this for some time.

The restaurant will be a "fresh casual" concept delivering cuisine that the partner described as being "underrepresented."

"Wonton Asian Kitchen will be about flavors that are familiar and exotic," he says, "and Winter Park — the arts and cultural hub of the area — is a great home to showcase our fare. There are a lot of people here who appreciate good food, know good food, and expect good food."

Just some of the "good food" he speaks of: well, wontons (of course), which will be served as finger-food appetizers and in soups. In addition to traditional crab wontons, expect spinach dip wontons and Buffalo chicken wontons. Bánh mìs of the chicken, steak, tofu, and all-veggie varieties will also be offered, as will bulgogi tacos and the requisite rice dishes.

I'm told all the food will be made fresh and cooked to order and, when possible, they'll try to source local meats and produce.

Brent Childers will serve as the restaurant's general manager and Jon Uddin its assistant manager.

Look for Wonton Asian Kitchen to open in late October/early November.
