Following rumors of a possible retirement, Brazilian soccer star Kaká announced today that he will not renew his contract with Orlando City SC.

The Lions’ captain and top designated player held a press conference this afternoon alongside majority owner Flávio Augusto da Silva and CEO Alex Leitão.

"I will honor this jersey ’til the end as always," said Kaká, who will conclude his $7 million contract with the Lions on Oct. 22.

Though Kaká said his decision was based on family, and the fact that he lives in a different country than his kids, he did not say exactly what his next venture will be. "Whats next for me is just this moment. The only thing I know right now is that I'm not going to be an Orlando City player next season," said Kaká. "Maybe I can come back here in the future, as an ambassador, coach, etc."

Kaká will play his last home MLS match this Sunday against the Columbus Crew.
