Next Tuesday is the last day to register for City of Orlando general election

OK, is everything up to date? Tuesday, Oct. 10, is your last chance to register if you need to for a local election with some very interesting races. Look for our City Council Voting Guide in the Nov. 1 issue, and don't forget to vote Tuesday, Nov. 7. Big change starts from small change, and participating in the process of local government is the best way to see the effects you want all the way to the top.

Here are a few frequently asked questions about the city election, answered on the City of Orlando website.
Q: When is the next City of Orlando election being held?
A: The election will take place on November 7, 2017. If necessary, a run-off election will be held on December 5, 2017.

Q: Why would a run-off be needed?
A: If there are more than two candidates and no one candidate receives a majority of the votes, the top two candidates will face off in a run-off election.

Q: Which seats are up for election?
A: There will be an election for Commissioners in Districts 1, 3, and 5.

Q: Who are the candidates?
A: You will see a list of candidates and information about their campaign finances here.

Q: How do I verify that I am registered to vote in Orange County already?
A: Visit the Orange County Supervisor of Elections website to verify your registration. If you still have questions, please call the City Clerk’s office at 407.246.2251.
