Orlando firefighters who traveled to Houston to help say they have rescued more than 50 people and two dozen pets trapped in the aftermath of destructive floods caused by Tropical Storm Harvey.

Firefighters with the Orlando Fire Department, Orange County Fire and Rescue, and other Central Florida agencies joined other firefighters and wildlife officials from across Florida who traveled to Texas to lend their aid.

The Dallas Morning News reports the catastrophic floods have left thousands homeless and at least 21 dead. Officials expect more bodies will be found after the waters have receded.
