Sporting one of the longest careers in punk rock, Social Distortion is coming up on four decades of devotion to three chords and the truth. They scored a series of hits in the 1990s with singles “Story of My Life,” “I Was Wrong” and a punked-up cover of Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire.” And frontman Mike Ness – the only constant member of a frequently changing lineup – continues to write tunes that pay tribute to classic rock & roll, country and rockabilly. Opener Jade Jackson, a young songwriter whose debut album, Gilded, has garnered positive attention from the likes of Rolling Stone and NPR, might seem like an odd pairing until you learn that Ness produced her album. Time to break out that can of Royal Crown pomade that’s been gathering dust in your medicine cabinet.
