Always check before you jump in a Florida pool

"Luckily, these homeowners took a second look this morning before jumping in to kick off their Memorial Day," said the Sarasota Sheriff's Office in a recent Facebook post.

Deputies were called to a home in Venice, Florida, after a woman cleaning the pool found a 7-8 foot gator lurking on the bottom. A local trapper was then called, who helped "relocate" the gator to a more appropriate area, of course, not without putting up a fight (see video below).



It's currently mating season for alligators, which means males are looking to get it in, and females are looking to lay eggs.

So, look before you leap.
