You know that old saying: Brunch without booze is just a sad late breakfast.

The Orange County Commission agrees.

At their meeting today, the commission approved liquor sales in all county restaurants starting at 7 a.m. That means no more waiting patiently for the clock to strike 11 o'clock before you order that mimosa after also waiting patiently for a table at your favorite brunch spot — because there's always, always a line.

The new rule, approved unanimously by commissioners who also like their unlimited mimosas early in the morn, will go into effect on Monday, May 15, which is really a bummer since plenty of moms out there would probably like to get a jump start on their Mother's Day buzz this Sunday.

Additionally, the rule now also allows for hotels to serve room-service alcohol until 3 a.m., instead of 2 a.m.

We probably could have done without the "Make Brunch Great Again" quip from Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs, but we're grateful for the extra happy hours just the same.
