If you feel like caring about horse racing this Saturday, May 6, there are places around town rolling out the green carpet to watch the 143rd running of the "best two minutes in sports." Fortunately, these spots are extending those two minutes to bring drink specials and contests to celebrate the day.

So don your giant hats and seersucker suits and down some mint juleps. Place your bets (among friends, of course) and pick your favorite horse name — because really, that's how you pick a winner, right? — and settle in.

The Hammered Lamb
The Ivanhoe Village spot is usually bumping around brunchtime, but this weekend you can expect fewer frayed shorts and more pretty pastels on the patio. The bar will serve up $5 Maker's Mark mint juleps and there will be a prize for the best Derby hat. Your winnings? A $50 bar tab. That's a lot of juleps.

Starting at 4 p.m., all things dapper will descend on the downtown Orlando watering hole. Come hungry, and stand in line for a carving station and $15 bottomless mimosas. Templeton Old Fashioneds and mint juleps will also be on special from 4 to 7 p.m.

Crooked Can Brewery at Plant Street Market
Just ahead of the Winter Garden food hall's two-year anniversary on Sunday, the brewery will celebrate Derby Day with a special release beer, tapped at 11 a.m. Pace yourself when sipping the Mint Julep Belgian Strong, most beers in this style sport ABVs of 8 percent or higher.

33 & Melt
From 5 to 10 p.m., all those who love bacon need to make their way to Windermere to watch the race. A $38 prix fixe menu pairs bacon-centric courses with three different Kentucky Bourbon brews, the Vanilla Porter, Bourbon Ale and Coffee Porter. For the price you'll also walk away a winner with a Kentucy Ale pint glass and key chain bottle opener. Ladies (and gents, TBH) who don a Derby hat are thanked with a free shot and party favors.
