Florida college students thought it was cool to bring a dead gator inside their dorm

Three Florida college students were given warnings by wildlife officials after they thought it would be hilarious to bring a dead alligator into their dorm room and snap some pictures of it.

The News-Press reports the Florida Gulf Coast University students found the lifeless reptile on the side of the road and "thought it would be fun to take some photos with it."

The students posted the photos on social media and soon caught the eye of officials with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

"It was actually a road kill alligator that they found and that was confirmed by the officer examining the carcass," says FWC spokesman Brian Norris, according to the News-Press.

Norris says the FWC took the carcass from the students and issued them warnings for possession of an alligator without proper permits, the News-Press reports.
