It looks like Disney and Universal will be facing a little more competition in the water park market from an unlikely place: Lake Nona.

Public filings show that Lake Nona developers are planning to build a floating water park on a man-made lake just south of the Orlando VA Medical Center, reports the Orlando Sentinel.

Tavistock Development Co. will be pairing with water sport company Wibit Sports to build the park on a man-made lake in its planned Lake Nona community park.

A typical Wibit water park features a series of interconnected floating walkways with climbing walls, slides, monkey bars and other activities.

Documents also show that the developer is planning to build a five-story climbing tower near the lake, as well as a cable-supported wakeboarding facility.

It's unclear if these facilities would be open to public access or how admission to them would be administered.

These plans are in addition to others Tavistock has already announced to add two new public parks to the Lake Nona area.

Tavistock and Lake Nona have been trying increasingly to market the area as a sports-centered hub, especially with its new Sports and Performance District featuring the United States Tennis Association headquarters.
