The city of Daytona Beach voted to decriminalize small amounts of marijuana Wednesday night.

According to FOX 35, the ordinance allows police officers to issue tickets to offenders who have less than 20 grams of marijuana, as opposed to taking them to jail.

Daytona Beach City Council approved the ordinance unanimously and it will go into effect immediately.

As of now, there's no word on the exact cost of issued tickets.

Back in April, the city of Orlando passed a similar ordinance, which made possessing 20 grams or less of pot a violation of city code.

The penalties for receiving a citation in Orlando range from $50 to a mandated court hearing, depending on how many times a person has been cited.

Volusia County also decriminalized small amounts of marijuana last March.
