A very lost and confused alligator was caught on Fort Myers Beach last week

An extremely lost and confused alligator was caught by a Florida fisherman on Fort Myers Beach last week.

The alligator, which normally prefers freshwater environments and should've known it had no business in the ocean, was hooked in front of a large crowd at the Neptune Resort last Friday, April 15.

According to WFLA, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers were able assist in capturing and relocating the seven-foot, 150 pound gator.

Wildlife officials told the station that even though gators are on the move this time of year, it is extremely rare to see them in salt water.
