Say hello to Victor Montalvo, the king of breakdancing.
This past weekend, the 21-year-old Kissimmee-native headed to Rome to compete against sixteen of the world's best breakdancers in the Red Bull BC One World Finals. Try as those other B-Boys may, but it was Montalvo who impressed the judges so much that he was crowned the 2015 world champion.
“To win Red Bull BC One means so much to me because I’ve been trying to win this battle since I was a young kid. I used to dream about just being on this stage and finally I won this. It feels so good,” Montalvo said in a press release.
Montalvo's final battle was against Portuguese B-Boy Bruce Almighty. Judges were looking for artistic skills, choreography, innovation, character and their use of essential b-boy moves while the dancers had the spotlight. Watch Montalvo's battle below.
“Victor did really everything,” explained local judge Cico in a press release. “From the basics to originality to musicality, he was always on point. He’s the ultimate B-Boy because he’s going with the flow. He doesn’t stress out. He’s just calm. American B-Boys have it in the blood.”
