No small amount of fuss was made during Factur’s soft opening last year. It was the vanguard of the so-called maker movement here in Orlando, a putative manufacturing revolution that centered around the kind of grassroots, high-tech industrial initiatives made possible by affordable 3D printing. So it should come as no surprise that a place whose main selling point is the tools it offers DIYers here in O-town (3D printers, CNC machines, laser cutters, welding facilities … we could go on) should play host to the work of nine local artists. Come for the music and paintings, stay for the cerebral juxtaposition of timeless artistic techniques alongside the most advanced manufacturing technologies available today. And once you’re done stuffing your brain full of art and science, stuff your face full of food truck munchies.
