Orlando's missing king cobra now has two Twitter handles ... and counting

Posted By on Thu, Sep 3, 2015 at 1:11 PM

When we first learned that there was an 8-foot-long king cobra on the loose in Orlando, we suggested that somebody create a Twitter handle for the snake, a la the Bronx Zoo cobra who became an Internet sensation in 2011.

Well, our cobra now has two Twitter handles: @cobraontherun and @kingcobraORL

Here's a sampling of posts from the accounts:

On a more serious note, the FWC has posted a photo to its website of what the snake would look like if its hood were not raised.

And WFTV's Karla Ray posted to Twitter that the FWC has confirmed that the Mike Kennedy who owns this escaped snake is the same Mike Kennedy who lost a cobra in 2011, which was eventually shot by a homeowner in a College Park garage. We have requested records from the FWC but have not yet received a response. We've also attempted to contact Kennedy via his website.
