Matt Pond goes to Dinosaur World and picks up Florida hitchhikers in new music video

A.V. Club debuted the first part of Matt Pond's newest two-part music video for "Take Me With You" today to get us revved up for tomorrow's debut (June 30) of his new album, The State of Gold. And while the album likely isn't any sort of ode to the Sunshine State (the musician used to live here for a short spell but has since moved on), this video splashes in tons of familiar territory, particularly for Central Florida residents.

First, it was created by Orlando filmmaker Jason Kupfer (Deeb Studios) and producer Tighe Arnold, and features local talent in Christina Bowers as Pond's Florida-frolicking mate (who chucks an orange at that Pennsylvania intruder!) and frequent Matt Pond collaborator, local musician Tierney Tough (also Kupfer's bandmate in the Pauses, who say they are dropping new music soon but never soon enough for this writer) who can be seen as the Inception-like videographer within the video (and her little dog, Arrow, makes an appearance too!). But most noticeably for everyone, the video is set in Central Florida nature spots and takes you down winding Florida roads on an adventure that even braves Dinosaur World to get your attention.

It's cool to see that Matt Pond continues to return to Orlando for our creative pool, so celebrate this local slice and keep an eye out for the second part, which Kupfer tells us should premiere in the next few weeks.
