Chipotle to offer paid sick time, vacation time and tuition reimbursement to employees

Burrito-slinging just got a little bit better – Chipotle Mexican Grill has just announced that it will begin offering vacation time, sick time and tuition reimbursement to employees, beginning July 1. 

According to Nation's Restaurant News, the company is extending benefits that used to be available only to full-time, salaried workers to part-time workers and hourly employees. 

“We just made an announcement internally that we are now going to be offering sick pay and paid vacation time for all employees at all levels of the company, including all entry-level employees” the story quotes Chipotle's recruitment strategist JD Cummings. “And we’re going to be offering the tuition reimbursement that we offer salaried employees to all hourly employees.”

Chipotle's benefits for part-timers were already pretty decent for fast-food work. Check out the health insurance rates, outlined in the 2015 benefits guide – those are cheaper than what we've seen offered for a lot of salaried jobs. It doesn't look like the benefits guide page has been updated yet, because details about tuition reimbursement for hourly employees is not there, and as of now the sick-time policy states that the company will offer it "in a jurisdiction with a paid sick leave law." Something jurisdictions across the nation, including Orange County, have been resisting.
