Southwest-Florida-based brunch chain First Watch is set to purchase Colorado's The Egg & I brand, according to a report by Sarasota's Herald-Tribune.

First Watch, which has eight locations in Central Florida (all full to the brim from open to close, we might add), has disclosed that some of the Egg & I locations will immediately be rebranded to First Watch's fresh, chef-centered, trend-based menu (e.g. the avocado toast on this month's specials list), while others will retain the Egg & I's green-chile-smothered Southwest style.

A supervisor we spoke with at the Egg & I's SoDo location wasn't able to confirm whether that location will be one of the ones to change hands immediately, or if it will remain The Egg & I throughout the transition.

Based on our March 11 review, we're crossing our fingers that there's change in the air.
