Today, Universal Orlando announced that the infamously psychotic Jack the Clown will be back to host Halloween Horror Nights 25, which runs from Sept. 18-Nov. 1.

Jack was first introduced as a Halloween Horror Nights character in 2000, when the creative department concocted an insane clown character to play upon people's fear of creepy clowns. According to Michael Aiello, Universal's director of entertainment – creative development, Jack, "sprang from his box and completely took over. He grabbed the event by its face and crushed it, laughing manically the entire time."

The clown made appearances all over the Orlando area to introduce himself, and he delivered gore-covered jack in the boxes to the media. He was a hit, and he made appearances during several Halloween Horror Nights over the years. This year, though, he's the master of ceremonies, and Aiello says on a blog post on the Universal site that Jack has changed a little  but for the better.

"He has shed his old coat for something of his own design. His face is more weathered, more lived in. Jack has come into his own, and he is eager to preside over the spectacle of it all – especially if that spectacle is filled with screams, blood and gore. He, most certainly, wouldn’t have it any other way."

Welcome back, Jack.

Universal hasn't yet released much more information on HHN25, except to say that there will be nine haunted houses and more scare actors than in previous years. We'll keep you posted as we learn more. In the meantime, here's a quick teaser video Universal released to announce the return of Jack.
