According to WESH-TV Orlando, George Zimmerman, who was acquitted in the shooting of Trayvon Martin back in 2013, was injured in a shooting in Lake Mary, Florida, early Monday morning (May 11).

Lake Mary Police Chief Steve Bracknell told WESH-TV he suffered a minor gunshot wound and that "the shooting may have been related to an 'ongoing dispute' involving Zimmerman and another person."

Bracknell also told the Orlando Sentinel that Zimmerman "did not shoot, but was fired upon by the other driver."

The story is still developing. We'll update the story as more information comes in.

One witness told WESH, "He walked normally into the ambulance, so he wasn’t being helped or nothing. They actually backed up the ambulance next to his driver side so he could walk into the door."

The shooting happened on Lake Mary Boulevard at around 12:45 a.m.

Zimmerman was accused of assaulting his girlfriend back in 2013 and November of this year. In both cases, no charges were filed after she recanted her story.

UPDATE: Sources are now saying the shooting occurred at 12:45 p.m. Monday afternoon.
