In celebration of Cinco de Mayo and because there are too many cats that need 'forever homes,' all day today at Orange County Animal Services, cat adoptions are only $5! That's right, $5 cats!

“Our shelter sees an increase in the cat population during the summer months as a result of kitten season,” said Dil Luther, Division Manager of Orange County Animal Services and longtime friend of the felines. “Since we have more cats in our care during this time of year, it is crucial to have more adopters. In previous years, this promotion has had a great turnout so we are hoping to continue the streak this year as well.”

Normally a cat adoptions will run you $40. But today, for only $5 bucks, you get a spay/neuter, initial vaccinations, microchip identification, deworming, FLV/FIV test, rabies vaccination and Adoption Welcome Kit! It's a Cinco de Mayo miracle.

Orange County Animal Services is located at 2769 Conroy Road in Orlando near the Mall at Millenia. The facility is open for adoptions weekdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and weekends from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, please call (407) 836-3111 or visit
