“We know now that in the early years of the 20th century, this world was being watched closely by intelligences greater than man.” Orson Welles scarred listeners with his radio broadcast of “War of the Worlds” in 1928. In the same fantastically mutilated vein, the new EP from Moonmen From Mars, Fear & Terror, starts with a howl before crashing into the lead track, “We Are Not From This Planet” – which is so infectious, it could unite a roomful of introverts as a rocking alien anthem. It ends with a creepy laugh, a hint at the band’s highly entertaining live show that features theatrics, costumes and spacey sequences projected behind the skin-tight-silver-suited Moonmen. The EP’s five tracks continue the mythic roots laid out on their previous EP and is part of a huge forward movement for Moonmen From Mars, who by the year’s end will release another EP and an LP (with all three EPs and B-sides, plus a comic book). They’ve also got a DVD planned, a live recording from their upcoming June show with Murder Junkies. It’s a big year for the quirky space cases, so help them keep the momentum going by sounding the alarm to join their fearsome Will’s Pub invasion.
