Ditch your plans of catching up with an old friend or that last-minute oil change – There Will Be Madness is back with a bang. This flash fiction slam consists of three rounds in which eight writers meet head-to-head, belting out their stories in hopes of winning a copy of Sam Slaughter’s When You Cross That Line and last year’s The Best of There Will Be Words chapbook. The first story must be 250 words or fewer, the second 500 and the third 1,000. There can only be one winner, so if you think you have what it takes (or if you fear you don’t), bring plenty of friends – the audience decides who wins each round. Let’s hope there won’t need to be too much swaying of opinion, though. Not interested in competing? Attend to see a fair fight with other lovers of literature in the vicinity. Don’t forget, you can still get your monthly dose of literary fiction on the second Tuesday of every month – just not in tonight’s slam style.
