Omaha post-rock heroes Cursive come to town often, with frontman Tim Kasher careening through hits from releases during Saddle Creek’s heyday like Domestica and The Ugly Organ. And while this music basically caters to nostalgic hearts with proper poetic angst to ensure a good crowd sing-along, it’s their tour companions, Beach Slang, who have our ears newly perked. With only a couple of 7-inches under their belt, the Philly band combines Jawbreaker-gruff vocals with rushing punk melodies on songs like “American Girls and French Kisses” that instantly feel like classics. With members boasting backgrounds in other surging punk acts like Weston and Crying, this new force quells the pop of those bands to loudly rock like a Cloud Nothings kindred.

CURSIVE with Beach Slang, Megafauna | 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 3 | The Social, 54 N. Orange Ave. | 407-246-1419 | | sold out
