This inaugural edition of a new showcase series from local hip-hop guru Swamburger aims to turn the Social into a verbal gymnasium for MCs. Four MCs are given two sets of three songs apiece, each set featuring beats made by a random producer, whose name is drawn out of a hat. Once the MCs hear a little bit of the beat that the producer brings, they’ll have to rhyme their own pre-written material over the beat; no freestyle word salad served here. The artist who has the best two sets wins the titular Fat Gold Chain and a cash prize, so expect locals Purple Kloud, E-Turn & SPS, and Mehsi to bring their A-game. Joining them in this competition is Qwel, a rapper from Chicago who’s poised to head out on tour with Sadat X from Brand Nubian. Of course, that tour doesn’t come anywhere near Orlando, so this might be your only chance to check him out in the foreseeable future.

9 p.m. Thursday | The Social, 54 N. Orange Ave. | 407-246-1419 | | $10
