The protests, organized by OUR Walmart, are pushing for full-time work for Walmart employees, along with a $15 hourly pay rate. Last year, similar protests were conducted at about 1,200 stores across the country. This year, the organizer is hoping for participation at about 1,600 stores. While more local stores may participate in the protest, these Orlando stores are the only ones officially signed up on the 2014 Black Friday Walmart Protests website:

Walmart Supercenter 1220 2500 S. Kirkman Road

8 A.M. AT THIS STORE.

Walmart Neighborhood Market 3617 600 S. Alafaya Trail (ACTUALLY HAPPENING TODAY, NOVEMBER 26, AT 6 P.M., BECAUSE FRIDAYS AREN'T THE ONLY BLACK THINGS)

The demonstrations will happen between 7-10 a.m. on Black Friday. If you want to march alongside your local retail workers, there are some guidelines on the protest site, including these requests:
  • Pick up any discarded leaflets
  • Be peaceful
  • Post a photo of yourself striking to social media, using the hashtag #walmartstrikers
  • Chant suggestions, like "Wal-Mart Wal-Mart, you can’t hide! We can see your GREEDY side!"
There are also downloadable flyers, stickers, pledge forms and more. If the whole protesting-for-living-wages movement makes you angry and you just wanna shop for your mass-produced Black Friday deals, we have to ask you, WHY? There's so much cool local stuff to buy here in Orlando!
