Do Me, Orlando: Winter in the Park Holiday Ice Skating Rink

Posted By on Wed, Nov 19, 2014 at 11:24 AM

The best part: Glittery outfits!

How long does it last? Forever (in your heart)

Info/cost: 3-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 3-10 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday, noon-8 p.m. Sunday; Through Jan. 11; Central Park West Meadow, Winter Park; $12 includes skates;

For all of us relocated Northern kids who grew up skating on any frozen surface available – ponds, flooded driveways, that shitty sidewalk by the school – skates on your feet seem to make the holidays feel just a little bit more magical (the same goes for moccasins and cross-country skis.) Combine that with hot cocoa and proximity to great restaurants and you’ve got yourself a recipe for a very merry day. Cue the City of Winter Park and their pop-up skating rink in the West Meadow in Central Park (that’s the green space on the other side of the tracks.) Admission gets you an all-day pass so you can skedaddle over to the Wine Room on Park Avenue when all the kiddies take over in the afternoon and come back before they close to get a little more wiggle room.
