The stylish electronic dance music that Brazilian Girls creates offers the lush quirkiness of bands like Of Montreal, the sophisticated palate of Radiohead and the offbeat but successful culture clash of Talking Heads. David Byrne even guested on “Losing Myself” from the Girls’ 2008 album, New York City. It’s high art dance-punk that’s been reawakened over the past two years without losing its freshness, despite the band’s scant three-album discography. Spunky frontwoman Sabina Sciubba’s solo activity kicked up especially with this year’s release, Toujours, and keyboardist Didi Gutman has been busy remixing under the guise of his new project, Masa. Welcome back, Brazilian Girls, we can’t wait to see what Sciubba’s fashioned for the night’s spectacle.
