Halloween Smashtacular with Golden Pelicans and Gino and the Goons as AC/DC

MUSIC It’s Halloween, and you could choose to parade around at thickly costumed affairs, or you could succumb to rock & roll damnation with the Golden Pelicans and Gino and the Goons at Peacock Room. The Total Punk labelmates join forces this year to embody AC/DC and perform their controversial 1978 record, Powerage – the uneven album that propelled the band to rock superstardom but also served as a send-off to their early foundational sound. So basically, it’s the Ghost of AC/DC Past that’s certain to scare up a crazy good time (meant without disregard to Malcolm Young’s decision this year to permanently leave the band after being diagnosed with dementia) and unlike pricier parties selling store-bought flimsy spooks, there’s no cover. Everybody knows the real point of Halloween is bulking up on sweets, so indulge instead in sinful ear candy. – Ashley Belanger
