Extra! Extra! For a hot minute there, we thought that Police Beat might be lost in a wheel well of some forgotten contextual airplane, as we were informed that, in no uncertain terms, it was too much work for the public information office at the Orlando Police Department to continue to provide us (or any news outlet) with documented morsels of criminal activity. A new day of obfuscation befell us and we had no say.

However, after a few complaints – some corroborated by said other news sources – our prayers were answered; we have “event sheets” again and the best involves a man trying to fly his way back to New York in the wheel well of a Jet Blue aircraft. Demetrice Hall was sure he would only get clocked for “trespassing” when he crawled under a fence and into the wheel mechanism of the plane on Sept. 18 after trudging his way from Oak Ridge Road. His shirt “got snagged,” he said to a JetBlue mechanic who found him near a light post. Police recovered “the black shirt, a pair of dirty white socks as well as a lighter” upon finding his wheel-bound hellhole, the police report says. Trouble. Hall was charged with trespassing, loitering and prowling because he was in the wrong place at an inexplicable time. Also, he was covered in grease, which never looks good on anyone.

Elsewhere, on Sept. 17, an unknown person rummaged through the desk drawers at Richardson Engineering, though it’s unknown if anything was taken. Seems kind of lame next to an airplane, though. –Billy Manes
