Gimme Shelter: Meet Boo, our Orange County Animal Services adoptable of the week

Posted By on Thu, Sep 18, 2014 at 1:51 PM

Surely you've noticed that we're animal lovers here at the Weekly. We post galleries of adoptable dogs from Orange County Animal Services twice a week, which we hope inspires some of our readers to visit the shelter and consider adopting a pet. The shelter gets thousands of dogs and cats in each year – seriously, close to 20,000 of them – and there simply aren't enough adopters for them all. Those pets for whom no adopter or rescue comes along ... well, you know. Not because the shelter doesn't want to adopt them out, but because there are too many animals coming in, and there aren't enough people turning to the shelter for their next pet. So we've asked the shelter to select one of those pets in need of a home, and we're giving them a little writeup online and in the print version of Orlando Weekly.

Our first OCAS adoptable profile is for Boo, this lovely 3-year-old who was surrendered to the shelter by his former owner.

This handsome fellow walks well on leash, he is housebroken and he knows how to sit. Boo is a lovable, laid-back kind of guy.

Boo weighs 56 pounds, he’s very athletic and he can jump really high. Bonus: He looks amazing in a bow tie.

Interested in Boo? You can adopt him from Orange County Animal Services, 2769 Conroy Road, 407-836-3111. His ID number is A300476. For the month of September, adoption fees on all dogs 30 pounds or more (including Boo), are waived on Thursdays. So if you visit the shelter on a Thursday – that's today! – you can take Boo home for FREE. If Boo is not available -- you never  know, somebody might go in and adopt him before you get there – OCAS has plenty of amazing dogs you can choose from. We promise. They get about 50 new dogs in every day.
