Bar-BQ Bar, Eye Spy and Sky Sixty set to close at the end of this month

Posted on Fri, Aug 1, 2014 at 10:08 AM

Yesterday, we got word that downtown stalwarts Bar-BQ Bar, Sky Sixty and Eye Spy would be closing for business within 30 days. Overnight, said news spread like wildfire(ball) following a staff meeting in which the news was revealed. For now, here's a statement from proprietor Ashley Mccammon Dishman as a sort of thank you for 16 years of fun and patronage. We'll likely be following up with details of the future of the prime downtown space; our understanding at the moment is that the Beacham/Social folks will be taking over, but not with the same names. More on that as we verify. For now, pour a glass of, well, coffee on the Friday ground and get ready for a month-long party. Oh, and there's an Instagram page for your filthy photos here. PLUS!!! A Facebook page for your sorrows.

It's with great sadness that we announce Bar-BQ Bar, Eye Spy, and Sky Sixty are closing on August 31. The hows and whys, because we know there will be questions, are surprisingly mundane - we simply couldn't come to terms with the landlord. Things go that way sometimes, but we're going to make the best of it. We're so proud of what we've done over the past 16 years, honored that our bars have come to mean so much to so many people - be it our patrons or dedicated staff - THANK YOU ALL. Know that we're going to celebrate with you this entire last month. It will be full of special nights at Bar BQ Bar celebrating old memories while making new ones. It's all moving so fast, but we're committed to going out with a bang and celebrating together as we close one chapter and go on to the next. After 16 years of no websites or any real social media, we've launched @barbqbar to post memories, announce everything we'll be doing this month, as well as what we're planning to do next, which we assure you - there is more to come.
