Fresh: Intimate café offers an antidote to Hannibal Square's trendy restaurant scene.

This week Fresh Cafe announced on its Facebook page that it would no longer remain open in its current location. Chef-owner Gina Bugayong wrote:

"Today it's been decided that fresh will no longer be open in its current location. I know this is sudden but bigger and better things are on the horizon. We will be reopening very soon -- details will follow.

I am humbled and grateful for all of the support and appreciation you have given us and the opportunity you gave so I could see my dream come to fruition.

I am excited, motivated, and ready to expand. A very special thanks to my team at fresh

thank you for your loyalty -- I love you guys!

My team and I look forward to serving you in the near future @ re:fresh!"

This makes us sad, because the Hannibal Square eatery was one of our favorite places for a girls lunch, with its great wine selection, super-creative salads (made from locally sourced ingredients), and modern-yet-cozy atmosphere. We will miss all of that, but if we're interpreting the Facebook post properly, it looks like the restaurant's not gone forever, just going through a "refresh" of sorts. New location, maybe? We'll let you know as soon as we get an update.
