Mmm, free donuts: Where to celebrate National Donut Day in Orlando

Posted By on Thu, Jun 5, 2014 at 12:57 PM

This time we won't complain about arbitrary national holiday granting gods, cause, y'know, donuts. In the name of people who love sweet round things, June 6, TOMORROW, has been deemed National Donut Day. Guess what that means for you? Free donuts.

Krispy Kreme will hook you up with a completely free donut: no purchase necessary. Just show up, tell 'em, "Happy National Donut Day!" and scarf down the proffered donut. Pro-tip: Hit 'em up when the "Hot Now" sign is on. The fresh ones are the best.

You'll have to do more than just show up to snag your free donut at Dunkin' Donuts. They're not asking too much of you, though: just buy any beverage (DD coffee, anyone?) and they'll throw in a donut of your choice at no additional cost to you.

Okay, so this one's a bit of a trek, but trust us, Donut King in Minneola is 100 percent worth the drive. When you finally arrive at this Central Florida palace of donuts, you'll be greeted with a warm, fluffy, perfect glazed donut. This deal is in-store only, so don't think you're gonna get away with just zipping through the drive-though. And seriously, if you're gonna trek all the way out there, take a dozen (or more) home. When they're all gone, you'll be sad the King's not closer to Orlando.

And if you're into the quality donut experience more than the free donut experience, swing by Cask & Larder. Their Fried Dough dessert will fill your donut hole perfectly. Donuts made "wit" beer, served with a soft caramel pudding and citrus-caramel glaze. And while you're there, be sure to check out one of their house-brewed beers. Or if you're feelin' too fancy for beer, take advantage of National Negroni Week, where the C&L bartenders will be servin' up their twist on the classic Negroni, all in the name of charity.
