In 2012 the lovely Miss Sara Barnes, a 26-year-old meth addict, torched the Senator – a 3,400-year-old cypress tree and a testament to life on earth. Why? Was she trying to stay warm? Nope, just bored.

SO, the creative minds over at Orlando Brewing have decided to memorialize what was once the oldest cypress tree on the planet (and the fifth-oldest tree in the world) with a new beer – the Senator Imperial Stout – because alcohol numbs pain.

The new brew will have "generous amounts of chocolate and roasted malts along with oats" and will "deliver a dark, robust, creamy delight."

The unveiling party will feature art made from the wood of the tree on display and woodworkers doing what woodworkers do, as well as fire management and nature conservation experts speaking throughout the day. The event is kiddy- and dog-friendly (no cats, birds or lizards – don't be creepy) and it kicks off at 1 pm Saturday, March 22. Live music starts at 9 pm.

In related news, the winning Miss Barnes was recently arrested for DUI. Click HERE for that story.
