Adult Literacy League calls for volunteer tutors

Posted By on Fri, Aug 30, 2013 at 3:29 PM

ALL_logo_oAccording to the Orlando-based Adult Literacy League's website, one in every five Central Florida adults reads at or below the 5th grade level.

Currently the League, a group of volunteer tutors who offer one-on-one educational sessions and classes, has a wait list of 107 people looking to improve their reading skills. The League has put out a call for volunteer tutors, and will offer one-day training sessions starting Saturday, Sept. 7.

“This is a great way to give back to the community,” says Executive Director Joyce Whidden. “We are very respectful of a tutor’s time, but cannot do what we do without these wonderful volunteers.”

If you are interested in becoming a tutor for the Adult Literacy League, email, or call 407-422-1540.
